Today, eighteen delegates from FE colleges and organisations across Wales will be taking part in a briefing meeting to discuss the upcoming Erasmus+ staff mobility to Pistoia, Italy on Wednesday 9 October.
CollegesWales secured Erasmus+ funding in February 2018 for a pan Wales staff mobility project to explore internationalisation in vocational education and training (VET) in Italy and Finland. Fifteen delegates from Wales visited Finland in November 2018 and the visit to Italy will be an opportunity to build on the knowledge gained from Finland.
The delegation will be welcomed by host company CSCS, who have collaborated with a number of colleges on Erasmus+ learner projects. They will see first-hand how CSCS builds capacity regionally and with employers to welcome inward mobility visits from vocational learners and apprentices from across Europe. It will also be an opportunity to gain an overview of the Italian education system, focusing on the status and delivery of VET and vocational qualifications.
Sian Holleran, International Coordinator at ColegauCymru said:
"This is an excellent opportunity for staff from the FE sector to participate in exciting and innovative continuous professional development (CPD) overseas. The delegates will have an opportunity to gain a new perspective on vocational learner mobility and how it enhances and enriches the learning experience."
"Given the political uncertainty over the UK’s future relationship with the EU, we are keen to make sure that vital opportunities like this remain open to the FE sector in the years ahead."
